Pictures!!
This is a guy named Brandon from Freshmen Seminar. He is a national champion at cup stacking. Professor Tom (to the right) asked him to bring the cups in during our second (and last) day of the seminar, so we got to see the routine. :)
On Friday night Student Activities had an event called "Target Night". All students with a blue LU drawstring bag or ID card could shop during an after-hours event from 10:30pm - 12:30pm at Target. There were some price cuts and free items. :) The place was so packed, people said it was worse than Black Friday (I wouldn't know since I don't shop then). This is just the line to enter the store.
This is the video of Brandon stacking cups. :)
The College Experience!
I've been meaning to create a blog for when I'm in college. So much has happened since I got here; at some points I'm overwhelmed, and at some points (like now) I feel like everything will be okay, that I just have to take things one at a time.
I'm writing this blog for a few different reasons: 1. So that I can explain my experiences here at Liberty University to my friends and family members at home. 2. So I can keep track of different activities I'm a part of. 3. To share some growing experiences while I'm at the world's largest Christian College. :)
I'll summarize a few things for tonight and hopefully update later.
The first day and a half my roommates hadn't arrived yet, so I had time to settle in, relax, and work on transitioning. When my roommates did arrive I instantly started to get to know them better. You can learn a lot about someone by what they bring to college. It's like a short summary of their life.
The next few days we went to Freshman Seminars where they taught you the basic information about the college. I don't think anyone will forget the Computer Assessment test we had to take. The first section was on Word (which was pretty easy) and info about plagiarism and such, the second section was excel and powerpoint, which "killed our scores" as most of the students put it. I passed the first part and didn't even finish the last (timed) section with a 44.4%.
I start classes tomorrow! I've been organizing materials for my first day, printing out syllabuses, and reading.
I've just decided today to also add fun tips for those who are heading off to college soon (or are in college)...or maybe just all around tips based on stupid/funny things I do. :p
Tip 1: Don't swallow toothpaste as a replacement for when you don't have mouthwash. It stings the throat. (Note: May possibly vary on your toothpaste type....but I doubt it)
That's all for today.
